The 1611 King James Bible is described as one of the most important publications in history, and also the most faithful to the Textus Receptus. The English king James I assembled the greatest religious scholars and linguists for a new translation of the Bible, in order to establish the most accurate and dignified translation to date. The monarch appointed 54 scholars to work on the translation, and 47 worked in six groups in three locations for seven years. After the work was completed, the King James Bible was first printed in 1611 by Robert Barker.

The Bible was very large. It was about 40 centimeters high. Due to its high cost and value, it was announced to the churches that the Bible should be chained to the pulpits. The 1611 Bible was authorized to be read in the churches, which is why it was called the Authorized Version.
